The Global Partnership for Effective Diabetes Management is a multi-disciplinary taskforce of internationally respected diabetes experts from leading institutions and diabetes organisations, committed to improving treatment outcomes for people with type 2 diabetes.
The Global Partnership's primary education initiative is Control to Goal. The programme addresses the potential roadblocks to effective diabetes management and provides guidance to healthcare professionals to help increase the proportion of patients who achieve recommended goals for glucose control.
Control to Goal provides support to healthcare professionals by:
- Defining good glucose control.
- Highlighting the gaps between treatment guidelines and therapeutic practice.
- Providing practical guidance to help healthcare professionals get more patients to recommended glucose goals.
In 2007, to support implementation of the United Nations (UN) Resolution on Diabetes as well as the Control to Goal principles, the Global Partnership for Effective Diabetes Management developed a publication entitled, UN Resolution on Diabetes: “Time to Put Fine Words into Action.” Published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice, this publication provides practical guidance to inspire all members of the diabetes community to take action to improve diabetes care.
